You cannot use “Effect Options” under “Custom Animation” to animate bullets that are nested by six levels or more in PowerPoint 2007

In Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, you create a slide that has a bulleted list that contains six or more levels of nested bullets. When you do this, you cannot use Effect Options under Custom Animation to animate the bullets that are nested by six levels or more.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, expand the Timeline element for the bulleted list, and then animate each nested bullet individually. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click the text box or the body text box that contains the bulleted list that you want to animate.
2. On the Animation tab, click Custom Animation in the Animations group.
3. Click Add Effect, and then select the animation style that you want to use.
4. Set the Start, Direction, and Speed settings.
5. Expand the custom animation Timeline element.
6. On the first second-level bullet, right-click the element, and then click one of the following:

Start On Click
Start With Previous
Start After Previous

Note Repeat step 6 for each nested bullet that you want to animate separately from the other bullets in the list.

7. Click Play to test the animation. Make any adjustments as needed to the way the bullet points are animated.
