You cannot shutdown a locked Windows 2000 SP4 virtual machine in Hyper-V Manager on a server that is running Windows Server 2008
SYMPTOMS
- You install the Hyper-V role on a server that is running Windows Server 2008.
- You create a virtual machine that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4).
- You install Integration Services on the Windows 2000 SP4-based virtual machine.
- In Hyper-V Manager, you click Shut Down on the Action menu to shut down the Windows 2000 SP4-based virtual machine.
In this scenario, the Windows 2000 SP4-based virtual machine may not shut down as expected. You may receive an error message that resembles the one of the following:
The virtual machine virtual machine name failed to shutdown within 5 minutes.
