You cannot export portrait and landscape images to the same width in Picture Manager
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Office Picture Manager, when you export two images of different orientations (one is landscape, the other is portrait), the longest side of each image is reduced to the longest resize resolution that is specified, even if the longest side of the image is not the width (landscape) but, instead the height (portrait) of the image.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if you choose one of the fixed resolution settings (by using the Export using this size feature) or click the Resize link, and then enter a custom width x height–for example, 400×300.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
| 1. | Select all the landscape images. |
| 2. | On the File menu, click Export, select the size that you want to use by using the Export using this size feature, and then click OK.Alternatively, on the File menu, click Export, click Resize, select Custom width x height, enter the width and the height that you want, click Return to Export, and then click OK. |
| 3. | Select all the portrait images. |
| 4. | Click File, click Export, select the size that you want to use by using the Export using this size feature, and then click OK.Alternatively, on the File menu, click Export, click Resize, select Custom width x height, enter the width and the height that you want, click Return to Export, and then click OK. |
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the “Applies to” section.
