SYMPTOMS
When you try to create a new mailbox or enable a mailbox in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 environment on February 29, 2008, you receive the following error message:
The Exchange server address list service failed to respond. This could be because of an address list or email address policy configuration error.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, wait until midnight Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) March 1, 2008. Then, restart the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the Applies to section.
MORE INFORMATION
If the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service is started or restarted between midnight UTC February 29, 2008, and midnight UTC March 1, 2008, certain configuration data will not be initialized. This situation leads to the failure of any command that requires the Recipient Update Service, such as the new-mailbox command or the enable-mailbox command. Additionally, this situation generates the error message that is mentioned in the Symptoms section.
