SYMPTOMS

When you resume a Windows Vista-based computer from sleep, you may experience unexpected behavior from a USB device. This problem occurs on a computer that uses Open Host Controller Interface (OHCI) host controllers. This problem may cause unexpected behavior.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Windows Vista may not provide enough resume recovery time for OHCI host controllers. The USB 1.1 bus specifications require that the operating system provide resume recovery time of at least 10 milliseconds (ms). This problem occurs if the USB drivers resume the Universal Host Controller Interface (UHCI) host controller and the OHCI host controller in less than 10 ms.
