Consider the following scenario:

•	You install Microsoft Input Method Editor (IME) for the Japanese language on a Windows Vista-based computer.
•	You add some user-defined words to the Microsoft IME user dictionary.
•	Protected mode is enabled in Windows Internet Explorer 7.

In this scenario, you cannot enter the user-defined words in Internet Explorer 7 by using Microsoft IME.

Note This problem occurs only in Internet Explorer 7. The user-defined words that are added to the user dictionary can be entered correctly in most programs. For example, the user-defined words can be entered in Notepad.

This problem occurs because the user dictionary requires a higher integrity level than the integrity level that Internet Explorer 7 can access.

To add user-defined words to the user dictionary, follow these steps:

1.	On the Microsoft IME language bar, click Tools, and then click Add Word or Entry.
2.	In the Reading box, type the characters that you want Microsoft IME to recognize.
3.	In the Display box, type the characters that you want to display when a user enters the characters that are in the Reading box.
4.	Click Add, and then click Close.
