Error message when you try to open a dashboard in Dashboard Designer in PerformancePoint Server 2007: “Unhandled Error Exception”
You try to open a dashboard in Dashboard Designer in Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007. If you specified pixels for the size of the reports that the dashboard contains, you may receive an error message. However, the error message that you receive varies. For example, you may receive the following error message:
Unhandled Error Exception
A webpart zone may be resized by adjusting the pixel width and height in the Zone settings.
This problem occurs if you specify pixels for the size of the reports that the dashboard contains.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
| 1. | In Dashboard Designer, save a local copy of the dashboard that you cannot open as a .bswx file. To do this, follow these steps:

| 2. | Create a backup copy of the .bswx file.
Note In the following steps, you manually update the .bswx file. Therefore, we recommend that you first create a backup of the original file before you make any changes. |

| 3. | Open the .bswx file in an XML editor. | ||||
| 4. | Locate the name of the dashboard that you cannot open.
Note The name appears as the value for the Text property for the BpmProperty element. |

| 5. | Under the BpmProperty element, locate the DashboardElements element, and then locate the Height element and the Width element. | ||||
| 6. | Change the value of the Measurement property to 50 both for the Height element and for the Width element. The updated elements resemble the following.<Height Measurement="50" Units="Percent"/> <Width Measurement="50" Units="Percent"/> Note The value of the Units property may be different. For example, the value may be “Absolute.” |

| 7. | Repeat step 5 and step 6 for all Height and Width elements under the DashboardElements element. | ||||
| 8. | Save the changes to the .bswx file. | ||||
| 9. | In Dashboard Designer, open the updated .bswx file, and then open the dashboard. | ||||
| 10. | Resize the dashboard elements as you prefer, and then publish the changes. |

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the “Applies to” section.
