Error message when you try to create an .aspx Web page in a Web application in SharePoint Server 2007: Access denied

SYMPTOMS
Additionally, the error message asks you to use a different user name and password to log on to the Web application. This behavior occurs even though you have Contributor permissions for the Web application.
CAUSE
RESOLUTION
| 1. | Use administrative credentials to log on to the Web application that is hosted on the server that is running SharePoint Server 2007. |
| 2. | Click Site Actions, point to Site Settings, and then click Modify All Site Settings. |
| 3. | Under Galleries, click Master Page and Page Layout Gallery. |
| 4. | Click Settings, and then click Document Library Settings. |
| 5. | Under Permissions and Management, click Permissions for this document library. |
| 6. | Click New, and then type your user name in the Users/Groups box. |
| 7. | Click Give users permission directly, click to select the Design check box, and then click OK. |
