When you log on to Windows Vista after you upgrade the computer from Microsoft Windows XP, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

You experience this problem if the following conditions are true:

•	FolderShare is installed on the Windows XP-based computer that you upgraded to Windows Vista
•	FolderShare was configured to synchronize the My Documents folder, or another folder that is in the %SYSTEMDRIVE% Documents and Settings UserName My Documents folder in Windows XP.

This problem occurs because of a change in Windows Vista from earlier versions of Windows. In Windows Vista, the My Documents folder, the My Music folder, and the My Pictures folder are not used to store your information. Therefore, the FolderShare synchronization with these folders generates an error message when you start Windows Vista.

To work around this problem, remove FolderShare synchronizations for your My Documents folder, your My Pictures folder, and your My Music folder. Then, re-create these synchronizations. To do this, follow these steps:

1.	On the computer that is running Windows Vista, visit the following Web site: https://www.foldershare.com (http://www.foldershare.com)
2.	Log on to FolderShare.
3.	Under My Libraries, click the library that corresponds to one of the affected FolderShare synchronizations. For example, click My_Documents.
4.	Click Delete This Library, and then click Yes, delete this library>>.
5.	Repeat steps 3 and 4 to remove all the libraries that correspond to the affected FolderShare synchronizations.
6.	Remove and then reinstall the FolderShare Satellite program on the Windows Vista-based computer. To do this, follow these steps: Remove FolderShare a. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Uninstall a program under Programs. b. Click FolderShare, click Uninstall, and then click Yes if you are prompted to uninstall FolderShare. c. If you are prompted about whether to let an unidentified program access the computer, click Allow. d. Follow the remaining steps to uninstall FolderShare. Reinstall and configure FolderShare a. On the computer that is running Windows Vista, visit the following Web site: https://www.foldershare.com (http://www.foldershare.com) b. Log on to FolderShare. c. Click Download and install the FolderShare Satellite on the device you are currently using, and then click Yes if you are prompted to let the page display non-secure items. d. On the Download page, click Download Now under Windows. e. In the File Download dialog box, click Run, and then click Run if you are prompted to run the program. f. In the Welcome to the FolderShare Setup Wizard, click Next, and then follow the remaining steps in the wizard to install and configure FolderShare.
7.	Synchronize folders between the Windows XP-based computer and the Windows Vista-based computer. To do this, follow these steps: a. On the computer that is running Windows Vista, visit the following Web site: https://www.foldershare.com (http://www.foldershare.com) b. Log on to FolderShare. c. Click Sync My Folders. d. Under Sync Your Folders: Getting Started, click the folder synchronization setting that you want to configure. For example, click Sync My Documents. e. On the Sync Your Folders: Define Library Name and Sync Type page, select the kind of synchronization that you want to use in the My Documents list that corresponds to each device in the library. Note The My Documents item corresponds to the Windows Vista Documents folder. f. Click Complete Setup and Start Syncing. g. On the Sync Your Folders: Setup Successful page, click OK.

In Windows Vista, the following junction points are not used:

•	%SYSTEMDRIVE% Documents and Settings UserName My Documents
•	%SYSTEMDRIVE% Documents and Settings UserName My Documents My Music
•	%SYSTEMDRIVE% Documents and Settings UserName My Documents My Pictures

Note A junction point is a pointer to another folder.

Instead, Windows Vista uses the following junction points to store your information:

•	%SYSTEMDRIVE% Users UserName Documents
•	%SYSTEMDRIVE% Users UserName Pictures
•	%SYSTEMDRIVE% Users UserName Music

In Windows Vista, if you create a My Pictures folder or a My Music folder in your Documents folder, you are prompted to move the contents of that folder to your Pictures folder or to your Music folder, as appropriate.

Note The My Documents junction point, the My Pictures junction point, and the My Music junction point still exist for program compatibility reasons in Windows Vista. However, these are hidden links.

During an upgrade operation, FolderShare synchronization works as expected for folders that you have configured between computers except for the folders that use the My Documents, the My Pictures, and the My Music junction points.
