This hotfix fixes the following issues:

•	932842 (/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=932842/) A nested conditional field that contains a DocProperty field or a DocVariable field may not be updated as expected in a header or in a footer in Word 2003
•	943733 (/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=943733/) After you merge or split table cells in a Word 2007 document while Track Changes is enabled, the row that contains the cells is not marked as a revision

This hotfix fixes the following issues that are not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

•	You select Insert as Hyperlink to insert a file from a mapped network drive in an e-mail message. However, the path is not correctly resolved after the e-mail message is sent in Office Outlook 2007. Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756 (/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=322756/) How to back up and restore the registry in Windows To fix this problem, you have to set the following registry entry after you install this hotfix package: HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Office 12.0 Word Options UseUNCPathInFileAttachAsHlink The type for the UseUNCPathInFileAttachAsHlink registry subkey is DWORD, and the value must be set to 1. Note If this registry entry does not already exist, you must create it.
•	Messages that have ink shapes do not include the ink when these messages are printed in Outlook 2007.
•	Autorecovery save is enabled with a 10-minute interval when you change another Word option by using the object model in Word 2007.
•	Word style numbering is not applied when you copy and paste text into new styles in Word 2007.
•	The Always check spelling before sending function does not work in plain text e-mail messages in Outlook 2007.
•	If a header in a multisection Word 2007 document is unlinked from the previous header and if this header contains a content control, the content control will be converted to text after the document is saved, closed, and reopened.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

•	You enable the Confirm file format conversion on open option in Word 2007. When you double-click a newly created .docx file on the desktop, the Convert File dialog box appears. Note This problem occurs because the .docx file is a zero-byte file. The file is not a valid Word .docx file.
•	When you save a .docx file as an .rtf file, some characters in Office Math Markup Language (OMML) equations are changed.

Update details

The Office 2004 for Mac 11.4.2 Update contains several changes that improve security and stability. These changes include fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of a computer’s memory by using malicious code.

Prerequisites

Before you install the Office 2004 for Mac 11.4.2 Update, make sure that the computer is running Mac OS X 10.2.8 (Jaguar) or a later version of the Mac OS X operating system.

To verify that the computer meets this prerequisite, click About This Mac on the Apple menu.

Additionally, the Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.4.1 Update must be installed on the computer before you install the Office 2004 for Mac 11.4.2 Update. To verify that the Office 2004 for Mac 11.4.1 Update is installed, follow these steps:

1.	On the Go menu, click Applications.
2.	Open the Microsoft Office 2004 folder, and then open the Office folder.
3.	Click the Microsoft Component Plugin file.

This session will discuss and demonstrate how 2007 Microsoft Office System users can leverage Windows Vista features to achieve an even greater competitive advantage. Features in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the other Office programs can use the search, mobility, security, and efficiency of Windows Vista to get a lot more done, much faster, and more easily.

For example, we will see how the new Ribbon in the main Office programs can quickly harness the search capability of Windows Vista online. This helps bring vital data into Word and Excel documents. We will see how this information can then be easily shared with others on mobile devices or though online collaboration tools.

This article describes the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated December 16, 2008.

This hotfix fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

• A workbook that was created in Excel 2003 contains some shapes that are linked to certain worksheets. When you open the workbook in Excel 2007, the linked shapes are linked to incorrect worksheets.

• When you use the Excel 2007 XLL Software Development Kit, you cannot use certain built-in functions, such as the xlCoerce function, to obtain strings that have more than 255 characters.
• You have a customized button that runs a macro that hides or un-hides some columns in Excel 2007. However, after you click the button, you cannot click it again.
• When you drag, drop, or delete cells in an Excel 2007 file that communicates with a RealTimeData (RTD) server, the DisconnectData method in the RTD server is not called.
• The page count of an Excel 2007 workbook that contains some shapes is incorrect.

  Note This problem occurs because some blank pages are counted.

• Consider the following scenario.
  • You create a chart based on the values of some cells in an Excel 2007 workbook.
  • You save the workbook.
  • You insert the workbook into a 2007 Office application as a linked object.
  • You change a cell in the Excel 2007 workbook.

  In this scenario, the chart in the workbook that was inserted into the Office application does not update.

• You have a worksheet that has a text box in Excel 2007. If you print this worksheet from a printer that can print at 1,200 dots-per-inch (dpi), some borders are printed above the text box.
• You make a copy of a sheet that includes a chart. However, the error bars in the chart on the new sheet still reference the cells in the old sheet.
• Consider the following scenario.
  • You copy a named range from an Excel 2007 worksheet.
  • You use the Paste Special feature to paste the range as a Microsoft Office Excel Workbook Object link into a 2007 Office system application, such as Word 2007 or PowerPoint 2007.

  In this scenario, the link reference does not contain the range name. This problem occurs if the name of the worksheet has a space.

• When you update a pivot table that was created in Excel 2003 or any earlier versions by clicking Refresh in Excel 2007, some data may be missing from the pivot table. This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • The pivot table contains more than 16,383 rows.
  • The pivot table was created by using a column reference for source data instead of a cell range. For example, you specify the range by using $A:$C, instead of $A1:$C17000.
• Consider the following scenario.
  • You have two data files that have the same name. The files are located in different folders.
  • You create two charts on different sheets. Each chart uses one of the data files in Excel 2007.
  • You copy the chart in one sheet, and then you paste it into the same sheet.

  In this scenario, the new chart links to the data file of the chart in the other sheet.

• In PowerPoint 2007, you open a PowerPoint Presentation that was saved in the PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation format the compatibility mode. The file contains a chart that was created by using some data in an Excel 2007 file. When you try to change the file data source of the chart, PowerPoint 2007 crashes. This problem occurs when the Chart data range field has the focus, and you click the Close button on the Select Data Source dialog box.
• When you use create multilevel subtotals for data in Excel 2007, the criteria that you used to create the subtotals appears in the incorrect order.

You use Internet Explorer on a Windows Vista-based computer to open a Microsoft Office file from a site that requires digital certification. When you do this, the Choose a digital certificate dialog box appears unexpectedly behind the Internet Explorer window.

Consider the following scenario. You try to save a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 workbook to a document library on a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services site. The workbook is not saved as expected. If you make a change in the workbook and then try the save it again, the workbook appears to save as expected. The file name that you specified appears in the title bar of the workbook. However, when you exit Excel, you are not prompted to save the changes to the workbook. In this scenario, the workbook is not saved, and the contents of the workbook are lost.

This issue occurs because the file name contains characters that are not supported in Windows SharePoint Services. For example, this issue occurs if the file name contains one or more of the following characters:

•	tilde (~)
•	number sign (#)
•	percent (%)
•	ampersand (&)
•	braces ({ })

Consider the following scenario:

•	You have a shared folder that is available offline.
•	On a Windows Vista-based computer, in an Office application or in WordPad, you use the Open File dialog box to open an offline file that is in the shared folder.

In this scenario, the shared folder goes offline. After the shared folder goes offline, you cannot make the shared folder go online from Windows Explorer.

You open a Microsoft Office Word 97-2003 document (*.doc) file from a shared network location. Then, you convert this file to the Word 2007 document (*.docx) file format. When you try to save the file, the Save As dialog box appears. Additionally, the original file is not removed from the shared network location when the file is closed.

This behavior is by design.

The cumulative update packages for August 2008 contain the latest hotfixes for the 2007 Office core suite applications and servers.

We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new fix release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous 2007 Office suites fix release. We recommend that you consider applying the most recent fix release that contains the hotfix that you need.

Consider the following scenario. On a computer that has the East Asian languages enabled, you have a Microsoft Office Word 2003 document. The document contains numbers that are enclosed in parentheses. Some numbers are used to number a list. You open the document in Microsoft Office Word 2007. In this scenario, you may experience a delay of 1 second to 5 seconds after you type a character in the last line of the numbered list.

Consider the following scenario:

•	You use the out of the box approval workflow with the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 picture library or with another library, such as the document library.
•	You use the Start this workflow when new item is created rule.
•	You use the Cancel this workflow when the: Document is changed rule.
•	You upload a new image file by browsing to the file and clicking OK.
•	When you are automatically redirected to the metadata screen for the file, you provide the metadata and then click OK.

In this scenario, the workflow displays the following message:

This problem occurs when you are redirected to the /Forms/EditForm.aspx metadata page while you are uploading to a picture library.

Note This metadata page problem is not exclusive to a picture library. This problem may also occur if you allow for management of content types on any other library, regardless of what content types are enabled. Additionally, adding certain columns to other library types, such as a document library, can cause this problem to occur.

When you click OK on the metadata entry page, the workflow sees this action as a change to the item. This unintended change to the item causes the workflow rule to cancel the workflow when the Cancel this workflow when the: Document is changed rule is enabled.

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

1.	From the picture library or another library, click Settings, and then click Picture Library Settings.
2.	Click Versioning Settings.
3.	Click Yes for the Require documents to be checked out before they can be edited? setting, and then click OK.

After you change these settings, a CheckIn button appears instead of an OK button on the metadata entry page when a picture item is uploaded. The CheckIn button does not cause the workflow to be canceled upon upload. This button still allows for successive change to the picture item to cancel the workflow as intended.

You can also work around this problem by clicking Cancel on the metadata page. By clicking Cancel, you receive the effect that you want on the workflow. However, this is not intuitive to the upload process and does not let the user add metadata during upload.

Another way to work around this problem is to click Upload or Upload Multiple Pictures. When you click one of these buttons, the metadata does not appear during the upload process.

Consider the following scenario. In a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document, you type some Hebrew text and format the text as Justified. Then you save the document in the PDF file format or in the XPS file format.

In this scenario, when you open the PDF file or the XPS file, the text is right-aligned. Additionally, if a dash appears in the text, the text that appears before the dash is right-aligned. However, the text after the dash is left-aligned. Therefore, a large blank space appears in the text.

1. Apply hotfix 956064.

2. Set the value of the UseGlyphsForExport registry entry. To do this, follow these steps:
   1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
   2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Office 12.0 Word Options
   3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
   4. Type UseGlyphsForExport, and then press ENTER.
   5. Right-click UseGlyphsForExport, and then click Modify.
   6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
   7. Exit Registry Editor.

When you try to upgrade a local, non-virtualized installation of Microsoft Office 2003 to a 2007 Microsoft Office system, the installation stops responding or reports inaccurate installation information. This problem occurs if you have the Microsoft Application Virtualization 4.5 Desktop Client installed.

To work around this problem, uninstall the Application Virtualization 4.5 Desktop client before you upgrade Office 2003 to a 2007 Office system.

When you try to void a supplier prepayment in the UK version of Microsoft Office Accounting 2008, you receive the following error message:

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

• You used a bank account to create the supplier prepayment.
• The currency that the bank account uses differs from the currency that the supplier uses.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. On the Suppliers menu, point to Supplier Lists, and then click Purchase Invoices and Goods Received Notes.
2. On the Current View menu, click All.
3. Double-click the purchase invoice that you want to process.
4. On the Actions menu, click Transaction History.
5. Double-click the supplier payment type that you want to use.
6. On the Actions menu, click Void.

Consider the following scenario:

•	You click a hyperlink in a document in one of the following Microsoft Office programs: • Microsoft Office Excel 2007 • Microsoft Office Excel 2003 • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 • Microsoft Office Word 2007 • Microsoft Office Word 2003
•	The hyperlink redirects you to another Web site.

In this scenario, you may not be redirected to the correct Web site. For example, assume that you click http://www.widgets-inc.widgets and that this hyperlink is set for redirection to http://www.widgets.msn.com. However, you are redirected to a Web site other than http://www.widgets.msn.com.

To work around this problem, the document’s author should insert a hyperlink that uses a direct link to the Web site instead of a redirected link.

In a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 workbook, you enter a formula that uses the XIRR function and the INDIRECT function. Then, you save the workbook in the Excel Binary Workbook (.xlsb) file format. When you open this workbook in an earlier version of Excel, you receive the following error message:

Additionally, when you save the workbook in the earlier version of Excel, the formula is lost.
