      It comes from a lock file and some old datbase files that have been left over. Just clear out the /var/lib/rpm directory, rebuild rpm and it should work fine.

      #cd /var/lib/rpm
      #rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
      #rpm –rebuilddb

          netstat -anp |grep ‘tcp\|udp’ | awk ‘{print $5}’ | cut -d: -f1 | sort | uniq -c | sort -n

          That will list the IPs taking the most amount of connections to a server. It is important to remember that the ddos is becoming more sophistcated and they are using fewer connections with more attacking ips. If this is the case you will still get low number of connections even while you are under a DDOS.

            SYMPTOMS

            Consider the following scenario. You use Windows Vista Local Security Policy on a Windows Vista-based computer. Or, you use the new Windows Firewall with Advanced Security on a Windows Vista-based computer. You try to initiate an Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) connection from a Linux-based computer to the Windows Vista-based computer. In this scenario, you cannot establish the connection.

            Notes
            • If you initiate the IPsec connection from the Windows Vista side, the connection is established correctly.
            • Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 work correctly with the Linux operating system in this environment.

            CAUSE

            In IPsec negotiation for transform proposal of the combination where Authentication Header (AH) and Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) are used for securing the same packet (AH+ESP), Windows Vista switches the order and replaces the packet with ESP+AH. This behavior breaks the negotiation. In this case, when you initiate the IPsec connection from a Linux-based computer, the Linux operating system proposes that the IPsec security format is AH+ESP. Therefore, the connection cannot be established.

            To work around this issue, modify the policy to use ESP or to use AH.

              SYMPTOMS

              Consider the following scenario. You use Windows Vista Local Security Policy on a Windows Vista-based computer. Or, you use the new Windows Firewall with Advanced Security on a Windows Vista-based computer. You try to initiate an Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) connection from a Linux-based computer to the Windows Vista-based computer. In this scenario, you cannot establish the connection.

              Notes
              • If you initiate the IPsec connection from the Windows Vista side, the connection is established correctly.
              • Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 work correctly with the Linux operating system in this environment.

              CAUSE

              In IPsec negotiation for transform proposal of the combination where Authentication Header (AH) and Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) are used for securing the same packet (AH+ESP), Windows Vista switches the order and replaces the packet with ESP+AH. This behavior breaks the negotiation. In this case, when you initiate the IPsec connection from a Linux-based computer, the Linux operating system proposes that the IPsec security format is AH+ESP. Therefore, the connection cannot be established.

              To work around this issue, modify the policy to use ESP or to use AH.

                      1. create a text file called wmamp3 in your ~/

                      2. Open the file in your favorite editor and enter the following

                      #!/bin/bash

#remove spaces
for i in *.wma; do mv "$i" `echo $i | tr ' ' '_'`; done

#remove uppercase
for i in *.[Ww][Mm][Aa]; do mv "$i" `echo $i | tr '[A-Z]' '[a-z]'`; done

#Rip with Mplayer / encode with LAME
for i in *.wma ; do mplayer -vo null -vc dummy -af resample=44100 -ao pcm -waveheader $i && lame -m s audiodump.wav -o $i; done

#convert file names
for i in *.wma; do mv "$i" "`basename "$i" .wma`.mp3"; done

rm audiodump.wav

                      3. Save the file

                      4. In a console, give the command

                      chmod +x ~/wmamp3

                      5. as root, copy the file to your exec path (/usr/bin or /bin)

                      6. Now you can change to the directory containing your WMA files and give the command

                      wmamp3

                      It usually takes approx 30 seconds to convert a 4 min long file.

                        After unpacking the archive using “tar xvfz rarlinux-3.2.0.tar.gz” on your Linux machine, copy all the RAR files to /usr/sbin/. (except the text files).

                        As a registered user, copy the rarreg.key to your home directory, for example /root/ or /home/user.

                        Then start RAR in the command line mode.

                        If you get the following error message:

                        rar: error in loading shared libraries: libstdc++
                        cannot open shared object file

                        …please use the static version of RAR -> “rar_static”.
