A Tape Backup Medium Changer may not detect properly in the Device Manager

The HBA (host bus adapter) the Medium Changer is connected to is using Storport compatible drivers and the Medium Changer uses a non_hierarchical scsi REPORT_LUNS structure. When a seemingly valid REPORT_LUNS structure is returned from the target device, it will be used to determine the LUNs available to the operating system. If the target uses a non-hierarchical REPORT_LUNS structure, storport will still use it to identify the LUNs, even though it does not understand the format. This can result in LUN 0 (the tape drive) being correctly identified , but not LUN 1 (the robotic changer device), so it does not show up in device manager or RSM (Removable Storage Manager).
This can be a PCI-E SCSI host bus adapter, or other slot or interconnect technology. For example: a Fibre-Channel HBA in a PCI slot.ÂÂ
