Action
When deleting a file from a CD-R that is full, you get a message:
There is not enough space on <drive>.
<MB> is needed to recycle this item. Click Delete to delete the file instead of sending it to the Recycle Bin.Â
Result
Cause
To delete a file from a CD-R, you need to create a new track after the file for the file system to reference to skip-over the deleted file. When the CDR is completely full, the creating of the new track fails, and the file does not show as deleted.
Resolution
There is no resolution as the CD-R is full, and is a Write Once Read Many (WORM) media type.
More Information
This can impact all Write Once Read Many (WORM) forms of removable media. Examples: DVD-R, MO (Magneto Optical), UDO (Ultra Density Optical), HD DVD-R and Blu-Ray WORM.
